The Spaniard claimed that Burnley have a superior financial arsenal than Newcastle United.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche addressed the media ahead of his side’s clash with Bournemouth tonight, and refuted Rafa Benitez’s recent claim that the Magpies cannot compete with Burnley financially, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
The Lancashire outfit have enjoyed a wonderful stat to their Premier League campaign, and currently sit in seventh position in the table, whilst Newcastle have struggled for consistency, and sit in 12th spot.
In recent history, the two clubs have been chalk and cheese, with the Tynesiders able to compete financially with some of the bigger clubs in England.

The landscape of the English game has changed, however, with many of the so-called smaller clubs now benefitting from the vast amount of riches being spread out amongst the Premier League.
Dyche though, does not subscribe to Rafa’s claim that Burnley have a superior financial arsenal to Newcastle.
The 46-year-old told the Daily Mail:
“Someone sent me that, we’re probably not the best example to use. Certainly not on wages. I don’t think we’re up there yet. It’s probably stretching it a little bit to include us in that. I’d be surprised if we’re thrown in the mix with that company on a wage scale. But I understand his point, trying to bring some reality that Newcastle historically have probably been more powerful financially than at this moment.”
If the Clarets do end up finishing above the Magpies in the Premier League table, it really would highlight the quite incredible job being done by Sean Dyche at Turf Moor.
And as things stand, it would take a brave man to bet against them doing just that.
