Sean Dyche has delivered a blow to Arsenal over their pursuit of Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana this month.
Amadou Onana has been in sensational form for Everton this season which has led to speculation that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side could be ready to make a move for the former Lille midfielder.
A physical midfielder with an abundance of technical quality has helped Sean Dyche’s side propel themselves out of trouble in the Premier League this season after a 10 point deduction due to Financial Fair Play issues.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have struggled this season for goals so the links to the Belgian midfielder certainly seemed strange.

Dyche delivers Arsenal blow
However, one man who will have a say on the future of Onana is of course Everton boss Dyche who has masterminded the Toffees to being within a fighting chance of Premier League survival.
Speaking ahead of Everton’s game against Aston Villa tomorrow afternoon, the Englishman has laid out what the Merseyside club’s plans are for the winter window.
“There will be no one at this stage that we are thinking of letting go,” Dyche revealed. “That’s recognised first-team players let me be clear, some of the kids are different with loans.
“We’re not wanting to do that. With shifting sands in the market, you never know but it’s all under our control and certainly at this stage we want everyone in the house.”
The Toffees certainly seemed to struggle at the beginning of the season with the transfer window still open but have seemingly found their groove in recent weeks.
Arsenal’s need in the market
Despite the Gunners being linked with a move for Onana, the midfielder should not be high on the list of priority targets for the North London club in this transfer window.
A forward who knows where the back of the net is certainly vital for Arsenal as they have struggled recently for clinical finishing with their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup being a huge example of this.
The signing of a new striker has to be the top priority for the Gunners this month as the signing of Onana, who is an exceptional midfielder, will not ease their goal scoring struggles.
Despite the links to Onana, HITC Football understands that there has been no contact between Arsenal and Everton for the 21-year-old Belgian.
