Everton boss Sean Dyche has declared Amadou Onana fit to face Aston Villa this Saturday after the Belgian’s injury. The Toffees host the Villans at Goodison Park in a 15:00 kick-off.

Aston Villa travel to Merseyside looking to snap their worst run of form under Unai Emery yet. The Birmingham outfit have lost each of their past three Premier League fixtures after losing one of his first seven in charge. The Spaniard replaced Steven Gerrard in November.

Everton lost 2-1 at Villa Park in August in their second game of the 2022/23 season. Danny Ings and Emiliano Buendia scored for Gerrard’s Villans before a late Lucas Digne own goal. While Frank Lampard also fielded Onana off the bench to make his Premier League debut.

Lampard signed Onana from LOSC Lille last August for £33m while still manager of Everton. The Toffees sacked the England icon in January before appointing Dyche to the helm. They have since won twice and lost once through three fixtures under the 51-year-old manager.

Onana has occupied a pivotal place at Everton since making his debut at Aston Villa under Lampard. The 21-year-old has started in 19 of his 21 Premier League appearances with the Toffees to date. But he was a doubt for Saturday after his early exit against Leeds United.

Dyche rules Onana fit to face Aston Villa after the Everton star’s injury scare

A knee injury forced Dyche to withdraw Onana 74 minutes into Everton’s 1-0 win over the Whites and put his involvement against Aston Villa in doubt. But the four-cap Belgium star has avoided a serious issue with the Toffees boss confirming he is fit to face Emery’s team.

“Am is not serious, more of a knock,” Dyche said, via quotes by Birmingham Live. “So, we have been monitoring that but he is training – he’s fit.”

Onana, whom Darren Bent recently called ‘outstanding’, would be a huge loss for Dyche if the Everton star’s injury had sidelined him against Aston Villa. The midfielder had caused Leeds issues with his charging runs from their engine room before going off last weekend.
