Leeds United have been linked with Burnley forward Matej Vydra.

Matej Vydra of Burnley looks on prior to the Pre-Season Friendly match between Fleetwood Town and Burnley at Highbury Stadium on July 23, 2019 in Fleetwood, England.

Leeds United have been linked with Matej Vydra. With Kemar Roofe on his way to Anderlecht, as reported by The Daily Mail, the Whites need a replacement striker, and Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been linked with the Burnley man.

According to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 67, August 4, 2019), Burnley are interested in signing central midfielder Kalvin Phillips from Leeds in the summer transfer window (click here to read more).

It has been reported that the Clarets have made an offer for the 23-year-old, which includes cash and Vydra.

Leeds, though, according to the report, have turned down that bid from Premier League outfit Burnley.

While losing Phillips would be a blow for Leeds, especially so late in the summer transfer window, the signing of Vydra would not be a bad move.

The 27-year-old forward has experience of playing in the Championship with Watford and Derby County, and the Czech Republic international has a decent record.

Leeds, though, may not be able to sign Vydra (even if they wanted to), as Burnley manager Dyche has suggested that he wants the forward to be at Turf Moor beyond the summer transfer window.

Dyche told Lancs.live when asked if he still expected Vydra to be a Burnley player after transfer deadline day: “Yes, there is every chance.”

Dyche added: “I have made it clear many times, we are not in a position where we need to sell anyone.

“Any sale will be thought through, it won’t be a case of we need to sell someone, quite obviously after the years in the Premier League and we are not throwing money around. We are not under pressure to sell anyone.”
