Everton overcame West Bromwich Albion 3-0 on Saturday courtesy of strikes from Kevin Mirallas, Morgan Schneiderlin and Romelu Lukaku, but goal-scorers aside there was an unsung Toffees hero who deserves plenty of credit for a brilliant individual showing.

Seamus Coleman is regarded by some as the best right-back in the Premier League, and on the weekend’s evidence he should be winning over more neutrals and pundits by the week.

Everton know exactly what they get from Coleman, who delivers week in, week out and has now racked up 27 appearances this season and 246 in total since arriving at Goodison Park. But anyone watching the weekend clash with West Brom will have seen a player at the top of his game.

Coleman may not score the goals or dictate the play for this Everton side but he is no less important in his own way.

Toffees manager Ronald Koeman will be all too aware of the 28-year-old’s influence and he will no doubt be keen to tie him down to a new long-term contract sooner rather than later.
