Everton are set to receive a major boost with the news that Seamus Coleman is in line to make his return to action for the club’s U23 side tonight.
Coleman hasn’t played since March 2017, when he broke his leg while playing for the Republic of Ireland against Wales.
It has been a long road to recovery for the right-back, but he is set to play some part when Everton U23s take on Portsmouth tonight in the Premier League Cup, as reported by The Liverpool Echo.
Prior to his injury, Coleman had performed consistently for Everton and had amassed over 200 appearances for the club, often earning rave reviews from supporters for his displays.
Once he is back to full fitness it will be intriguing to see whether Coleman can reclaim his place in the Everton starting lineup, with youngster Jonjoe Kenny having performed rather impressively in his absence.
Everton will be eager not to rush Coleman back to action but they will be delighted that he is taking a significant step towards returning and it is hoped that he can play some part in the club’s quest to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.
