Legendary England goalkeeper David Seaman has selected Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United as the best signing of the year.
Speaking on his own podcast, the former Arsenal stopper awarded Ronaldo his prestigious prize.
2021 produced some of the most sizeable, significant and shocking deals in the sport’s history.
Jack Grealish obliterated the British transfer record when he signed for Manchester City in the summer.
Romelu Lukaku created Chelsea history by becoming their priciest incoming of all time.
Lionel Messi made headlines across the globe when he left Barcelona after two decades of service to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Not to be outdone by their European counterparts, United splashed the cash heavily before the season started.
They finally landed long-term target Jadon Sancho and managed to recruit Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.
Yet none of those names have enjoyed anywhere near the same impact as the Red Devils’ other arrival.
No, we’re not talking about Tom Heaton.
Rejoice for Ronaldo
Ronaldo has been excellent since reclaiming his number seven jersey at Old Trafford – 13 goals in 19 appearances is quite a tally for a player who turns 37 in February.
His performances in the Champions League have been particularly enthralling as he continues to make headlines in the greatest club competition in the world.

“My signing of the year is Ronaldo. I was so happy when he signed – because it was perfect,” said Seaman about the Portugal legend’s Manchester homecoming.
“And the fact he’s come back to the Premier League as the icon he is – and he’s still going to be really tested.
“So yeah, I’ll give Ronaldo the signing of the season (award).”
Top Premier League picks
In terms of the English top flight, it’s difficult to look beyond Ronaldo as the best capture of the past 12 months.
Seaman’s Arsenal did well by landing Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White, both now established members of Mikel Arteta’s team.

Aston Villa’s business looked great when they seized Emi Buendia and Danny Ings, yet neither have hit their expected heights.
Arguably, the only one who comes close to CR7 is Crystal Palace’s coup of capturing Conor Gallagher. The young midfielder is really enjoying life on loan away from Stamford Bridge.
He’s not stolen the show like Ronaldo though – but can anyone?
