According to A Bola, Liverpool are once again interested in Porto midfielder Otavio.

The Brazilian was strongly linked with a move to the Reds in the summer, but as we all know, a move never came to fruition.

However, A Bola are now reporting that the Merseyside club are once again having a look at the midfielder, and interestingly, one former Liverpool player is a fan of Otavio.

Indeed, Marko Grujic is one of Otavio’s Porto teammates these days, and according to Neil Jones, he’s given him a glowing review in the past.

What’s been said?

The journalist shared a text message he received about Otavio from Grujic in the summer when a deal was touted.

“People love a swap deal, but you very rarely see a swap deal come off. Grujic is one we’ll come to talk about, but Otavio isn’t one that’s boiling,” Jones said about rumours in the summer.

“I did text Marko Grujic to ask him what type of player Otavio is, and his reply was just ‘good player’, so you’ve got the Marko Grujic seal of approval there.”

Good player

If Grujic thinks that Otavio is a good player, then he must have something about him.

Say what you will about Grujic’s Anfield career, he’s played alongside some of the best footballers in the world in recent years.

He’s worked alongside the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz and Virgil van Dijk, so if he says Otavio is a good player, you have to trust that judgement.

The Reds could be getting a fantastic footballer if they can bring the Brazilian in.
