Toney was selected to start for Scunthorpe yesterday, and he put in a man of the match display, as the Iron won 3-2 against their promotion rivals.
Toney scored twice during the contest, with both of the striker’s goals showing his quality.
The youngster first fired home from close range after a corner, and then he scored a bicycle kick soon after half-time.
Toney has found it hard to break into Scunthorpe’s first-team, but he certainly caught the eye with his performance yesterday and drew a lot of praise.
Toney’s performance is likely to keep him in Scunthorpe’s starting line-up, as they head into a crucial part of the season.
Graham Alexander’s side are looking to protect their place in the top six and claim a play off spot.
Scunthorpe are next in action at the weekend against Millwall at The Den.
