Cameron Carter-Vickers has continued his superb form for Celtic this season with a “dominant” display against Rangers. The on-loan Tottenham star is earning praise from Scottish media, his display earning an 8/10.
The 24-year-old joined Celtic in the summer on a season-long loan and has since been crucial to Ange Postecoglou’s side. He has helped Celtic keep a huge 13 clean sheets in the 27 games he has played – scoring twice himself.
The USA international is certainly enjoying the best period of football in his career – and it came to the boil on Wednesday evening. Against Celtic’s bitter rivals Rangers, Carter-Vickers was impenetrable against Kemar Roofe.
The Daily Record handed him an 8/10 for his Wednesday outing, saying: “Centre-back was calm and dominant for large periods as he ensured there would be little for Roofe. Made interventions and won headers at will.”
Carter-Vickers shines: But Celtic hero has no Tottenham future
Under contract at Tottenham until June 2023, the eight-time USA star does have a permanent clause in his Hoops contract. It is believed a fee of £6million (Sun) will be enough for Celtic to sign him permanently.
His performances might have a few turning their heads at Spurs, especially with the need for a centre-back. But ultimately, he is not good enough for a club like Tottenham – and Eric Dier is by far and away, a better option.
Carter-Vickers could play on the right of a back three, but Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga are all better options. If Carter-Vickers has the choice, he simply has to join Celtic permanently, soon.
