A reported Leeds United target had a very difficult afternoon on Sunday.

Hearts defender Aaron Hickey started the Scottish League Cup semi-final against Rangers at Hampden Park but the 17-year-old couldn’t add to his reputation as one of the most exciting young players around.

Hickey, who Leeds are said to be watching [The Sun, October 20, page 65], didn’t cover himself in glory for two of the three goals that Steven Gerrard’s side scored in a 3-0 win.

Ryan Kent, another player linked with a move to Marcelo Bielsa’s side this past summer, made it a very difficult 90 minutes for the prodigy.

Here’s how Scottish fans reacted to Hickey’s display:

Hickey is a left-back by trade and Leeds already have a very promising one of these in the form of Leif Davis.

The 19-year-old made a rare appearance in Saturday’s 2-0 win over QPR and, going forward, it does look like he’ll be the Whites’ main man on the left-hand side of defence, meaning that Hickey, irrespective of what happened yesterday, would not really be needed in West Yorkshire.
