There could be fans at the Scottish Cup final after all, according to a report, with the Scottish FA mulling over the possibility of moving the showpiece game to Ibrox or Celtic Park rather than an empty Hampden.

According to the Daily Record, the surprise change to Scotland’s restriction levels, which start coming into effect from today, means that fans will be given entry to the SPFL playoff games – although grounds will remain empty until May 17th, 24 hours after the final round of Premiership fixtures.

With the whole of Scotland expected to go into level two from May 17th, that means as many as 2,000 fans will be given access to the Premiership relegation playoffs two days later as Scottish football slowly returns to normality.

The Scottish Cup final is due to be played the following weekend, May 22nd, at the national stadium but due to UEFA hosting Euro 2020 games there, fans will remain locked out.

That could now see the Cup final moved to one of Glasgow’s other two major stadia and opening the doors up to allow fans in.

As Rangers look to lift a domestic double and Celtic fight to avoid ending the season trophyless, any planned move would almost certainly come after this weekend’s fourth-round clash between the Old Firm at Ibrox.

Whichever of the Glasgow giants lose would make an ideal neutral venue for the final – and would allow thousands of fans seeing their side in action for the first time in 14 months.
