Scottie Scheffler’s first event of the 2026 season has been set.
Expectations are high for Scheffler over the coming year. There is no denying that he has become the sport’s most dominant force since Tiger Woods.
Since the start of 2024, Scheffler has racked up 15 wins across the globe, including three majors. He now sits one US Open title away from completing the Career Grand Slam.
Last season began with a setback after he injured his hand over Christmas, forcing him to delay his return until the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
This time around, he is expected to get going a bit earlier – assuming there are no ravioli mishaps along the way.
Scottie Scheffler’s first PGA Tour appearance of 2026 has now been confirmed

Scheffler is set to begin his 2026 season at The American Express, as confirmed by tournament officials. According to an ESPN report, he will be joined in La Quinta by Rickie Fowler, Akshay Bhatia and Sepp Straka.
He has also signed up for the WM Phoenix Open, where he will return to a familiar venue. The 29-year-old won his first PGA Tour event there back in 2022 and successfully defended the title the following year.
Last year’s tournament was not as kind to him though, finishing tied for 25th. Even so, it is easy to forget that he was still in the mix heading into the final stretch on Sunday.
Scottie Scheffler’s track record at The American Express
Since making his first appearance at The American Express back in 2020, injury is the only thing that has kept Scheffler out of the field.
His debut year actually produced his best finish so far, though he did fall back a bit after a slow final round.
The world number one missed the cut there in 2021, which occurred a year before his most recent missed cut in any competition.
Scheffler has posted three straight top-25 finishes at the event since then, further underlining his strong form in this tournament.
If he comes out of the gates quickly again in California, it could set the tone for another dominant season.
If he does open with a win, you would expect plenty to already feel like they know how 2026 might play out before we are even into February.
