Scottie Scheffler has put together an outstanding 2025 season on the PGA Tour.

He’s been in a class of his own at times, racking up four wins including two major championships and a Signature Event title.

But Scheffler did raise some eyebrows ahead of The Open last month.

He said that tournament wins didn’t bring him satisfaction, and that he found more fulfilment away from golf.

Some felt his comments sent the wrong message to young players coming through, while others supported him – including Annika Sorenstam. But there should never have been any questions about his commitment to golf in the first place.

It’s always been clear that Scheffler puts his family first, but there’s never been any doubt about his commitment to maximising his potential on the course.

There’s now some hard proof backing that up.

The fact that he’s chosen to play in the FedEx St. Jude Championship this week speaks volumes about his approach to the game.

Rory McIlroy skipped the event, as a Memphis win wouldn’t impact his Tour Championship standing. Scheffler, conversely, opted to play rather than await for Atlanta.

By turning up for this week’s event, he has put an end to any lingering doubts about his desire or competitive edge.

Scottie Scheffler is the man to beat in 2025

Scheffler has been on fire all season, especially since May.

It’s easy to forget that the world number one badly damaged his hand at the end of 2024 when carving a turkey! Scheffler’s season record so far is ominously impressive.

Nobody would be shocked if he picked up another win or two before the 2025 PGA Tour season wraps up at East Lake in three weeks.

The Dallas native has been a cut above everyone else this year, and his choice to play in the FedEx St. Jude Championship says a lot about his dedication to golf.
