Scottie Scheffler picked up his 20th PGA Tour win on Sunday at the American Express.

Scottie Scheffler added another landmark moment to his career on Sunday by securing his 20th PGA Tour victory at the American Express. The win further underlined his remarkable consistency, with the American now boasting a win rate of roughly one in every four starts since early 2022.

At 29, Scheffler once again made elite performance look routine. He plotted his way around the course with control and patience, rarely needing to step outside his comfort zone. Even rising talents like teenage prospect Blades Brown were left impressed, particularly by Scheffler’s composure and sharp short game during the final round.

Despite his growing list of achievements, Scheffler remains reserved away from the course and rarely seeks attention on social media. After his latest victory, however, he briefly acknowledged the moment with a short message on Instagram.

The four-time major champion said: God is good. Thankful to earn win No. 20 at the American Express. What a week!

In keeping with his grounded approach, Scheffler thanked his faith and reflected on the week rather than the wider significance of the achievement. The message captured the mindset that has helped him separate golf success from life away from the sport, something those close to him believe plays a key role in his sustained excellence.

With his 20th win also securing lifetime PGA Tour membership, Scheffler has already cemented his place among the modern greats — even as his ambitions continue to stretch further.

Jason Day highlights what sets Scheffler apart

Scheffler’s dominance has not gone unnoticed among his peers. Speaking after the American Express, Jason Day praised the American’s ability to stay focused and hungry despite sitting atop the world rankings.

“Very unorthodox in the way that he swings the club, and it’s not like we’re looking at Tiger, but he’s putting up Tiger-ish numbers, even though Tiger was, you know, obviously the GOAT.

But, yeah, I mean just, every time he tees it up he’s right around the lead. And that is one of the most difficult things to do, to always stay hungry to the point of not being satisfied. Because it’s very easy to get satisfied out here.

“You win a couple of times, you’re like, well, I’m kind of relaxed and I can coast for a little bit. And it seems like he never wants to relax.

He always does his work, needs to do whatever he needs to do to be able to prepare, and he’s always around the lead. And that’s a very, very difficult thing to do with how much distractions there can be, especially at number one.”

Day highlighted Scheffler’s patience, mental strength and refusal to become complacent, noting how difficult it is to remain motivated after repeated success. While acknowledging Scheffler’s unconventional swing, Day pointed out that the results speak for themselves, with the world number one consistently placing himself in contention week after week.

As Scheffler continues to add milestones at a relentless pace, rivals are left facing a daunting reality — a player already operating at the top of the game who still appears driven to improve.
