Scottie Scheffler has been named PGA Tour Player of the Year for a fourth consecutive time, once again earning the honour after another standout season.
Scheffler’s 2025 campaign included another major title and several dominant performances, further cementing his place at the top of the game.
Rory McIlroy was also in contention this year, putting together an impressive 2025 season that kept him in the conversation throughout.
Despite McIlroy’s efforts, it was Scheffler who claimed the award once more. Following the announcement, he shared his thoughts on social media.

Winning the award once is impressive enough, but Scheffler has now made it four in a row. The Texan has been remarkably consistent over that period and there’s little argument he hasn’t earned each one.
Scheffler took to Instagram to share his thoughts, posting: “I have so much respect for every golfer in this game! To be honoured with this award, voted on by my peers, I’m very fortunate.”
There was more than one candidate deserving of recognition again this year. Rory McIlroy had another strong campaign and Justin Thomas came close as well.
But it’s tough to argue against the consistency and results that have become synonymous with Scheffler over these past few years.
Scottie Scheffler deserved his award, but Rory McIlroy also had a case
Choosing between Scheffler and McIlroy this season could have gone either way. Scheffler’s edge likely came from his two major wins, adding both The Open and the PGA Championship to his record.
He also picked up four more PGA Tour victories and finished inside the top ten in 17 of the 20 events he entered. That level of consistency made it hard to argue against him.
On the other hand, McIlroy had a strong year as well. He won The Masters and helped lead Europe to a Ryder Cup win, adding more wins along the way.
But when you look at the full picture, most will agree that Scheffler earned it this time around.
