Scottie Scheffler put together an outstanding season in 2025 on the PGA Tour. He picked up six wins over the year, two of which were majors, making it one of his best stretches yet.

One of those came at Quail Hollow in May, where he lifted the PGA Championship trophy. Scheffler looks set to keep his spot at the top of the game for years to come. His skill set gives him a clear edge that few can match right now.

He used every bit of that strength in all aspects eight months ago at Quail Hollow.

Scheffler has long been admired for his down-to-earth nature. Even though he’s the top-ranked player in the world, he comes across as just another guy when he’s away from the sport.

That side of him was clear when he spoke about his PGA Championship win during an appearance on the Fore Play Podcast Plus.

Scheffler gave an unexpected answer when asked about what led to his victory at Quail Hollow.

What Scottie Scheffler’s club-fitter said about his PGA Championship win

Adrian Rietveld shares a strong working relationship with Scheffler, and it was clear he played an important part in the world number one’s victory at Quail Hollow back in May.

Reflecting on that week, Rietveld spoke about the preparation that went into handling potential issues with Scheffler’s driver, which had been in use since early 2024.

He explained how they’d spent two weeks leading up to the event preparing for any problems that might arise, so when the driver finally failed during pre-tournament testing, they were ready.

Scheffler ended up using a backup driver nearly identical to his original, and it paid off with another major title.
