When a player goes on a run like Scottie Scheffler’s, it’s only natural for Tiger Woods comparisons to surface, and the world number one has found himself addressing those again.
Scheffler’s win at Royal Portrush put him up to four career majors, and he already looks well on his way towards double digits.

After his win at Royal Portrush, Scheffler was quick to dismiss any talk of being on Woods’ level when asked by reporters.
But the topic hasn’t gone away. It’s been a big talking point among golf writers, with Matt Wallace even suggesting that Scheffler tops Woods in certain areas.
With some time off now, Scheffler has had the chance to sit down for more in-depth interviews about his recent success. And as expected, he addressed the comparisons to Tiger Woods head-on.
Scheffler shares thoughts on Tiger comparisons
Scottie Scheffler has been speaking about everything going on in golf this week, sitting down with the Pardon My Take podcast.
As expected, it didn’t take long for the conversation to turn to Tiger Woods. Scheffler, as usual, handled it with a level head.
“I think any time you can get mentioned in the same breath as some of the greats of the game I think is really cool,” Scheffler admitted.

“But the comparisons are I think just very silly. Tiger stands alone in the game of golf. He completely transcended the game. He was by far the best player I think we will ever see in our lifetimes.
“I think people are always looking for that next thing but there is only one Tiger Woods and the rest of us are just trying to do our best out there, that’s all it comes down to. I think for me I think it’s silly too, just because I am my own person and my own guy. I am just trying to get the best out of myself.
Scottie Scheffler should take pride in Tiger Woods comparisons
He is so level-headed that he’s never going to let this sort of talk get to him or affect his mental state but Scottie Scheffler should be so, so proud of being compared to Woods.
Woods transcended the game and Scheffler is right in that they are different characters and their own people.

Yes, people are always looking for that new superstar but the one thing Scheffler is missing here is that his golf game is actually good enough to be put in the conversation with Tiger.
As it stands, nobody can get near him when he’s even at 90% of his best and that is what Woods had.
Whoever comes up against Scheffler at the Ryder Cup is likely to already know in their mind that if they aren’t on it, then it’s game over. And that, is just how Woods had people.
