Scottie Scheffler has experienced a really strange season on the PGA Tour in 2026.
Of course, Scheffler has one win and 11 top-5 finishes to his name in 17 PGA Tour starts this year.
He also leads the way in scoring average on the PGA Tour in 2026 and is inside the top-10 in all of the key statistical categories.
However, something is not quite right with Scottie Scheffler.
It seems bizarre to say that out loud after reeling off all of those results and stats, doesn’t it?
The fact that he has only won once this year despite the fact that he has been far and away the best player is truly mind-boggling.

Scheffler could very easily have won four or five times already this year on the PGA Tour.
He could have another couple of majors tucked away as well, if he had got the rub of the green or simply holed a couple more putts at key moments.
However, 2026 looks like it will be a season to forget for Scheffler, unless he wins a couple of playoff events next month.
Jim Nantz has predicted that Scheffler will do exactly that, and given the standard of his performances this year, he deserves one or two more victories to see out the season.
In spite of his lack of wins, Scheffler has to remember that he has played some brilliant golf this season.
Sure, he hasn’t been at his prodigious best this season. For example, he has dropped down from 1st to 10th in strokes gained approach.
But he has still been incredibly consistent.
His remarkable run of results in 2026 include five runner-up finishes in just 17 starts.
Unfortunately for Scheffler, that is a history-making run of second-placed finishes.
After he lost out to Jackson Koivun at the 3M Open, he became the first player since PGA Tour records began in 1983 to record five runner-up finishes.

As mentioned earlier, Scheffler could so easily have five wins or more to his name this season.
Then we would be talking about his year in a completely different light.
Context is so important in every narrative involving the very best sportsmen in the world.
Scottie Scheffler may not be happy with his results this season, but he should still be incredibly proud of his efforts.
And nobody should be surprised if he wins a couple of the playoff events to end his season on a high.
