According to The Daily Mail, Leeds want the left-back as a replacement for Charlie Taylor, who joined Premier League side Burnley on a five-year deal yesterday.
The 20-year-old defender made 14 appearances for the Red Devils during Louis van Gaal’s reign, but his career has stifled over the past 18 months or so and has not got a look-in since Jose Mourinho took over at Old Trafford last summer.
United recalled him from a season-long loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers in February, where he made six Championship appearances and none since the previous November when Paul Lambert took charge at Molineux.
The report from The Daily Mail goes on to claim that Leeds would be signing him on a permanent basis, and some fans of the Yorkshire club on Twitter are keen, while others are not jumping for joy over this rumour.
It must be noted that this speculation arose before Leeds went and signed Vurnon Anita.
The former Newcastle United utility man signed a three-year contract at Elland Road on Thursday.
Significantly, the 28-year-old, who has four caps for the Netherlands, can play left-back, so head coach Thomas Christiansen may not sign another one this summer.
