Scott Sinclair’s previous spell at Aston Villa should be a warning to Sheffield United amid links with Celtic man

Scott Sinclair joined Scottish Premiership giants Celtic from Aston Villa in 2016, and now he is being touted for a move back to the Premier League with Sheffield United.

Three years ago, Scott Sinclair made the switch from Aston Villa to Celtic after the Midlands outfit had suffered relegation to England’s second tier for the first time in nearly three decades.

Now, Sinclair could be heading back to England’s top-flight, but this time he is being touted for a move to Sheffield United, who were promoted along with Villa during the recently concluded campaign.

The Scottish Sun recently claimed that Sinclair is wanted by Sheffield United and their manager Chris Wilder as they prepare to face the big time next season.

Whilst Sinclair has thrived up in Scotland with Celtic, it is still a completely different kettle of fish in the Premier League, and if his outing with Aston Villa is anything to go by then Sheffield United should stay clear of the player.

The now 30-year-old flopped at Villa when he was seemingly at his peak and United would be making a mistake in trying to sign him this summer.

Wilder’s main job would be to stay in the Premier League, and whilst Sinclair has the experience, he might not have the quality to win him the points he will be craving for next term.

Added with that, in January, prior to his departure from Parkhead, Brendan Rodgers had to defend Sinclair’s performances for Celtic after he came under criticism, as reported by the Daily Record.

Even that is perhaps an indicator that Sinclair’s career is now heading in the wrong direction and that Sheffield United should look elsewhere for attacking talent and threat.

Despite all the stick, Sinclair still scored 17 goals for Celtic’s treble-winning side last term, which is perhaps what is interesting Wilder and his team.

But during these past three years, Sinclair has produced the best football of his career, yet he has never ever been close to earning an England call-up, which in itself should be a warning to the Yorkshire club.

But his performances the last time he was in the Premier League should serve as a bigger warning that Sinclair is best staying at Celtic than moving to Sheffield United.
