The 20-year-old striker is never going to play for France whilst a Celtic player.
Celtic’s Moussa Dembele
Celtic star Scott Sinclair has been commenting on the form of his Bhoys team-mate Moussa Dembele and the international chances of the French striker.
The summer signing from Fulham has been in sensational form this campaign. The 20-year-old has scored 32 goals in 46 games for Celtic this season. That extraordinary form even saw him linked with a shock call-up to the senior French national team.
That did not happen, but Sinclair has told BBC Scotland he considers it only a matter of time:
“His time will come. He’s a young, quality player.
“He has the attributes and the potential to be as good as any player I’ve played with. It’s up to him how far he wants to take it. He looks like he wants to do well and he just needs to keep performing.”
What Sinclair’s comments highlight however, is that Dembele remains very unlikely to be playing for France whilst he remains a Celtic player.
Celtic’s Scott Sinclair scores their third goal
His form and talent is undeniable but there is very little chance that French boss Didier Deschamps will call up a player featuring in the Scottish top-flight, considering the standard in the division is so inferior to that of many other leagues across the continent.
Until Dembele is scoring goals in a bigger league, playing for France will remain a pipedream.
