Celtic winger Scott Sinclair has spoken highly of the fans to Herald Scotland.

The 27-year-old winger, who joined Celtic from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, has revealed that he has now realised how special the Scottish Premiership club’s fans are.

The former Swansea City and Manchester City man was impressed with the atmosphere at Celtic Park during the game against Hapoel Be’er Sheva last week.

Celtic took on Hapoel at home in the first leg of the Champions League qualifying playoff tie last Wednesday evening. Brendan Rodgers’s side won the match 5-2, having been 3-0 up at half time.

Sinclair has shared his appreciation of the Celtic fans, and has stated that he has realised why everyone speaks so highly of the Celtic Park faithful.

“Everybody keeps telling me about the atmosphere created by the Celtic fans but now I’m going through it for myself and realising how good it is,” the winger told Herald Scotland. “Hopefully we can get through and have more of these nights.

“I haven’t experienced anything like the other night before. When we walked out they made so much noise and then they were singing for the whole game.

“It spurs us on and when we did concede the two goals they kept right behind us, clapping and cheering us on.”

Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have a very strong following. The Bhoys are set to feature in the group stage of the Champions League this season.

A three-goal advantage against Hapoel makes them favourites to progress from the tie, the second leg of which will be played at the Turner Stadium in Be’er Sheva, Israel on Tuesday evening.
