Celtic winger Scott Sinclair is playing brilliantly at the moment. The 27-year-old has established himself as a key figure in Brendan Rodgers’s side.

Sinclair has scored 16 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions for Celtic so far this season, according to the club’s official website.

The Englishman struggled to play well for Aston Villa last season, as the Villans went down to the Championship from the Premier League.

The former Chelsea and Swansea City winger scored only two goals and created just four chances in 27 Premier League matches for Villa last season.

Sinclair has revealed that despite not being able to play well for the Villans during the 2015-16 campaign, he was still giving his all in training sessions and was trying hard.

“Being Player of the Year would mean the world to me — if it happens,” Sinclair told The Scottish Sun. “For me, it would just show all the hard work that I’ve put in was worth it.

“Even back at Aston Villa, when I wasn’t playing as much as I wanted, I was still doing the hard graft behind the scenes, and even staying behind to do extra sessions.

“Hopefully, that’s all paying off now, but the most important thing for me is to be consistent and up until now I feel that I have been.”

Sinclair’s comments about working hard could endear him to the Villa fans, at least a little bit.

The Villa Park faithful must have been frustrated with the former Manchester City winger’s performances last season, but they should now understand that he was trying his best in training – it was just not happening for him during matches.
