Scott Sinclair joined Celtic from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window.
Scott Sinclair has told the Daily Telegraph that he thought long and hard about leaving Aston Villa to join Celtic.
Sinclair moved to Celtic during the summer transfer window, after a disappointing spell at Villa.
The rapid forward admits that he pondered trying to get a Premier League club, but decided that a move to Celtic was the right one for him, as he just wanted to get back to playing football regularly again.
“I sat down with my family and we thought, ‘What is the right decision?” Sinclair explained.
“Do I stay in the Premier League after getting relegated with Villa and join another team where I could be facing a similar thing, or do I go to Scotland with Celtic under Brendan, who I had played my best football under?
“People will say, ‘Oh it’s a lower league or it’s not the best standard’ but for me it’s about playing football again and getting that enjoyment I had when I was a kid.”
Sinclair struggled to show his best form at Villa, and was in and out of the team for the season he spent with the Midlands club.
The 27-year-old has made an impressive start to life at Celtic, though.
Sinclair worked with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers at Swansea City earlier in their respective careers, and enjoyed the best run of form of his entire career.
Sinclair will have a chance to show what he can do against English opposition again this evening, when Celtic take on Manchester City in the Champions League.
