Celtic’s Scott Sinclair has offered a warning to Manchester United target Moussa Dembele.

Celtic winger Scott Sinclair has told The Scotsman that Moussa Dembele should think carefully about his future amid links to some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Dembele, 20, was Brendan Rodgers’ first signing as Celtic boss over the summer, as he pounced to land the striker after his contract with Championship side Fulham came to an end.

Having hit 17 goals in all competitions last season, Dembele arrived in Glasgow with some real momentum, but after just one goal in his first five games, some fans had questioned the French attacker.

Now though, Dembele is the star of Scottish football. With 16 goals in 24 games for Celtic, Dembele is starring under Rodgers, whilst he’s taken his club form to the international stage with four goals in four games for the France Under-21’s.

Dembele is looking like a star of the future, and his performances for club and country are triggering interest. The Scottish Sun recently reported that Champions League giants Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have all been tracking Dembele with a view to moving for the striker.

However, the strongest link has come with the Daily Mail claiming that Manchester United are very interested in Dembele, as manager Jose Mourinho thinks he’s similar to his former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

Ahead of tonight’s game at Kilmarnock, winger Scott Sinclair has told The Scotsman that Dembele should be careful with his future, suggesting that his playing time could drop if he signs for a huge club.

Sinclair had his own failed move to a huge club as he struggled to make the grade at Manchester City following his 2012 move from Swansea City, and even suggested that there could be another Dembele in two years that could take playing time off him, so he must make his choice carefully.

“I hope Moussa stays here for a lot longer,” said Sinclair. “He’s only 20 so, for him, it’s all about development. All he can do is keep on playing well and scoring. He’s scoring big goals in big games and that’s what you want to be doing as a striker. He has a bright future ahead of him. Obviously, doing as well as he is at that age, he’s obviously going to be linked with all the big European clubs like Real Madrid. That’s only natural because he’s young but he’s also doing it on the biggest stage as well.”

“Sometimes when you’re younger, your vision is to play for a Real Madrid or Barcelona or another massive club but, by going there, you might find that your game time is limited. When that happens, you need to be able to deal with the fact you aren’t playing every week. Right now Moussa is playing every week and he’s taking part in the Champions League as well. That’s the choice he’s got to make. Everyone’s choices are different and everyone’s experiences are different, so I’m not saying that, if he did go to one of those big clubs, it wouldn’t work out for him.

“Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t. When the time comes, if a manager wants you and says he’ll play you, then you can go, but football isn’t as black and white as that. Moussa could stay here and get another 150 games under his belt and then leave but football doesn’t always work out like that – in two years’ time there could be another Moussa somewhere else,” he added.
