Scott Sellars said on The Noel Whelan show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, November 18, 2016) that Newcastle United will get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Newcastle got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season and are playing in the Championship this campaign.

Rafael Benitez’s side are going strong at the moment and currently find themselves at the top of the league table.

The Magpies have picked up 37 points from 16 matches so far this season, two more than second-placed Brighton & Hove Albion and have a game in hand.

Former Leeds United and Newcastle midfielder Sellars has backed Benitez’s side to return to the Premier League.

The 50-year-old has also said that he hopes that Leeds finish in the top six of the Championship this season.

“I think Newcastle will be up there,” said Sellars on The Noel Whelan show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (broadcast from 6pm, November 18, 2016) about Newcastle’s promotion chances. “I expect Newcastle to get promoted. I think they have got the money to go again in January.”

“I am hoping that Leeds can get up there and get into the playoffs to be fair,” added Sellars.

Leeds will face Newcastle at home in the Championship this afternoon. The West Yorkshire outfit will head into the match against Magpies high on confidence.

The Whites are in the running for a top-six finish in the Championship this season and are genuine playoff contenders.
