The Fulham man is tipping his former Tottenham Hotspur protege to reach the top of the game.
Fulham’s Scott Parker celebrates
Fulham midfielder Scott Parker has reciprocated after receiving praise from Tottenham Hotspur counterpart Harry Winks.
The pair faced each other, albeit very briefly, during Spurs’ FA Cup win at Craven Cottage on Sunday, before which Winks described the 36-year-old as a “great player and a top, top person.”
And Parker has since returned the favour, predicting big things to come for his former White Hart Lane protege.
“I always knew he had good quality and he played very well, I said that to him after the game, I thought he was fantastic,” he told Tottenham’s official website in comments published on Tuesday afternoon.
“Technically he’s very good and he has a bit of drive about him, he can get away from opponents. He’s got that little shimmy and that can give him a yard of space. At this level, that’s what you need because the game happens so quickly.
“He certainly looks the part. He’s obviously in a very good team with an unbelievable manager who will give him an opportunity. He’s got every chance.
“He’s good lad as well, gets his head down and works. I’ve no doubt he can go to the top.”
Winks has experienced rapid progression this season, making 27 appearances in all competitions to put paid to the Tottenham careers of Ryan Mason and Tom Carroll and earn himself a new five-year contract.
Tottenham’s Harry Winks in action against Fulham
The boyhood Spurs fan was still progressing through the ranks when Parker was on the books at White Hart Lane.
The former England midfielder signed for the Lilywhites from West Ham United in 2015 and made 63 appearances before moving to across London to Fulham in 2013.
He appeared for the final 16 minutes of Sunday’s 3-0 defeat, in which Winks played the first 79 for Spurs.
