Tottenham sensation can’t stop scoring.
Fernando Llorente may not be cutting it for Tottenham but behind that they are blessed with options as potential back-ups for Harry Kane.
Reo Griffiths might just be the most exciting of the bunch.
The 17-year-old scored a hat-trick against Arsenal in an under-18s match at the weekend to help Spurs defeat their North London rivals 4-1.
All three came from open play, two with his feet and one a header. He now has a total of 21 goals in all competitions this season.
Griffiths has scored goals in the under-18 Premier League for Spurs this season, in the FA Youth Cup, and the UEFA Youth League.
This hat-trick came in the under-18 Premier League Cup semi-final to set up a clash with Chelsea.
Spurs’ under-18s were knocked out by Chelsea in midweek in the FA Youth Cup, and this final gives Griffiths a shot at redemption after drawing a blank in the 2-0 defeat.
Manager Scott Parker praised him after his hat-trick, revealing Griffiths was frustrated with his midweek efforts.
He told Tottenham’s official website: “Reo Griffiths was bitterly disappointed with the way he played on Tuesday night in the FA Youth Cup and rightly so, but we said to the boys that football turns around quickly and as disappointed as we were on Tuesday night, we’ve got an opportunity four days later to put it right.
“Reo got brought off after 55 minutes on Tuesday, didn’t play well but got an opportunity again today, scored three goals and did well so that’s the rollercoaster of football that we’re on.”
Griffiths has more to learn before he is ready for first team action but 21 goals this season speaks for itself in regards to his talent.
If he can prove himself against Chelsea next time out then he will help his case to progress up the ranks and eventually follow Harry Kane’s path to success.
