Tottenham’s youngsters fell short in the UEFA Youth League.
Tottenham Hotspur youth coach Scott Parker picked out winger Samuel Shashoua as his side’s biggest threat after their loss to Porto.
Spurs were beaten 2-0 in the UEFA Youth League quarter-finals, ending their involvement in this year’s competition.
The under-19 side had seen off Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund to reach the last eight and were hopeful about going further.
Tottenham’s side boasted prolific young striker Reo Griffiths but he was unable to find the net.
Parker was most impressed with 18-year-old winger Samuel Shashoua.
He told the club website: “I didn’t think we deserved to get anything from the game. It’s difficult. You need that real spark and in the second half at times, Samuel Shashoua brought that, but the detail and the tiny little passes went astray and we weren’t on it today.
“It’s been a massive learning experience for the boys and they’ll only be stronger for it.”
Shashoua is already a regular at under-23 level and impressed throughout Tottenham’s youth league campaign, providing an assist against Real Madrid.
He is still a way off the first team but he will hope to get the chance to make an impression in pre-season, and should be proud of his efforts over the past few months.
