Celtic are reportedly monitoring Burke’s situation at West Brom.

Scott McDonald has been quoted by the Daily Record as saying that Celtic is the obvious choice for West Bromwich Albion winger Oliver Burke, after the Hoops became reportedly interested.

The Record claims both Celtic and English Championship side Millwall are interested in landing the 21-year-old this month, as he continues to struggle at the Hawthorns since his £13million move (Record) from RB Leipzig.

Moving to the Midlands club in August 2017, Burke has managed just 21 appearances for West Brom in all competitions – scoring only once and creating three more. This season, he has managed just three Championship appearances.

Celtic want to lure the Scotland international north of the border in a bid to add more attacking options, but face competition from Millwall. Ex-Celtic striker McDonald, who also played for Millwall, said there should only be one answer.

“If the choice is Celtic or Millwall then you pack your boots in your bag and you start running up the M6,” McDonald said. “I don’t mean that to sound disrespectful to Millwall in any way because it’s a good club but they are really struggling this season and in relegation trouble.

“I don’t know what that would do to Oliver Burke’s confidence right now when he’s not been playing a lot of games at West Brom. So from a career point of view it’s a no-brainer.

“Celtic are a team who are going to dominate possession in most of the games they play and that means Oliver will get the chance to get on the ball and get the confidence back into his game. Celtic all day long.”

Burke has enjoyed and endured an interesting career path so far, after breaking onto the scene at Nottingham Forest before completing a big-money move to Germany with RB Leipzig.

But just one goal in 26 outings for the Bundesliga side allowed then-Premier League side West Brom to move, but that has hardly worked out for the Scotsman either. Now, a move to Celtic could be on the cards.
