Fulham thrived last season with Scott Malone raiding down the left – and Leeds United have been linked after his ill-fated move to Huddersfield Town.

Scott Malone was deserving of his place in the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season.

Fulham, the second tier’s great entertainers in 2016/17, were inspired by the midfield mastery of Tom Cairney, the wing wizardry of Sone Aluko and the rapid bursts from 17-year-old wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon. Left-back Malone, however, was every bit as influential. A constant menace on the flanks, Malone even scored six league goals last season while setting up another three.

It was a tally Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor could only dream of. Though ClubCall report that The Whites could turn to Malone in January as they look to secure a natural replacement for the academy graduate who departed for Burnley in the summer.

Malone has only made two substitute appearances in the Premier League since arriving at Huddersfield Town from Fulham in the summer. And the report claims that Leeds could attempt to bring the former Wolves youngster in on loan in the New Year.

While the right-footed duo of Vurnon Anita and Gaetano Berardi have filled in to great effect at left-back, Malone would represent a major step up and provide Leeds with real pace and attacking aggression on the flank.

If the 26-year-old can replicate the thrilling form he showed at Fulham last season, he will be the sort of signing that would immediately improve Leeds’ starting XI.

After all, you don’t fluke your way into the official Team of the Season.
