Glasgow Rangers youngster Glenn Middleton has left Ibrox on loan this summer and is looking to impress with their Scottish Premiership rivals.

In comments reported by Edinburgh Live, Scott Gemmill has suggested that he told Glenn Middleton that he should make the move from Rangers to Hibernian this summer, and insisted that all parties will win following his switch to Easter Road.
Middleton had been linked with a loan exit for much of the summer. Edinburgh Live reports that he had looked set to join NAC Breda in the Netherlands, but it was ultimately Hibs who won the race to loan the Rangers winger.
It looks to be a smart move for the Gers starlet, with Paul Heckingbottom boasting a good record when it comes to developing young players and with Middleton getting the chance to impress in the Scottish Premiership.
And Gemmill – who included Middleton in his latest Scotland under-21 squad – suggested that the former Norwich City man made the switch that he backed him to make during a conversation they shared while his future was up in the air.

“I spoke to Glenn about what happens next,” he said, as reported by Edinburgh Live. “He’s been given a great opportunity.
“I’ve known Glenn for a few years and I’m sure he’ll be more focused than ever. I did speak to him about the move. It’s great that Glenn trusted my opinion in that regard.”

It was important that Middleton left Ibrox with Steven Gerrard adding to his wide options during this window. He looked set to struggle for game-time this term, especially having played such a small role in the first-team during the second-half of last season.
Some may fear for Middleton. It is not going to be an easy task to prove that he is good enough to jump ahead of those in Gerrard’s current plans.
But the youngster unquestionably has the potential to force his way back into the picture at Ibrox upon his return. And Gemmill clearly believes that Hibs are providing him with the perfect platform.
