Celtic host Bayern Munich in the Champions League later this month, and the Scottish Premiership side will be looking to avenge Wednesday’s defeat.
Scott Brown
Scott Brown told ESPN’s live post-match coverage of Celtic’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich (broadcast on 18th October 2017 from 19:00) that the Hoops supporters will make a big difference when the two teams meet later this month, and suggested that he hopes that they give Bayern a fright.
Brendan Rodgers’ men were brought back down to earth following their fantastic win over Anderlecht, that has put them in pole position to seal third place in the group, as they suffered a 3-0 defeat in the Allianz Arena that looked destined to be an even heavier loss at times.

The two sides meet again before the end of the month, but back at Parkhead. And Brown has suggested that the atmosphere the fans create will change the dynamic of the contest.
“It’s always different back at Celtic Park with our fans there. Hopefully our fans give them a little fright and I said, hopefully we can get an early goal, create chances and work the goalie,” he told ESPN’s live post-match coverage.

While Celtic’s previous European tie at home saw them receive an even heavier defeat – with Paris Saint-Germain coming away with a 5-0 win back in September – there have been numerous occasions where the Hoops have used home advantage to cause a major upset, with the win over Barcelona in 2012 arguably the most famous example in recent times.
And if Bayern get too confident following their emphatic victory on Wednesday and Celtic feel inspired by the backing that they are receiving from a packed Celtic Park crowd, then perhaps Rodgers’ men can put themselves alongside the Neil Lennon-led team that defeated Barca five years ago.
