Scott Brown has backed his former Celtic team-mate Kieran Tierney to leave Arsenal for a bigger club, as quoted in The Daily Record.

Brown, now at Aberdeen, played with Tierney at Celtic, and the Scotsman believes that his compatriot is destined for a bigger club.

The former Celtic midfielder has said that Arsenal left-back Tierney could be a star for Scotland at the Euro 2020 finals.

Brown also thinks that Arsenal will struggle to keep hold of Tierney.

What’s been said?

The Scotsman told The Daily Record: “Everyone knows how much I love KT. But he’s taken his game to a whole new level over the last couple of years. I’d go as far as to say he could be one of the stars of the entire tournament.

“You don’t see many other centre-backs overlapping their own full-backs and running beyond the strikers but that’s how KT has played this role. He’s basically a centre-back who plays like a winger.

“In all my time as a player I’ve never known anyone with his energy – he can run all day – but it’s his turn of pace over three or four yards that does the real damage.

“The quickest defenders in the world can’t cope with him when he’s running at full tilt, which is why I’m certain Arsenal will struggle to hold on to him.”

Arsenal stay for now

Tierney is one of the left-backs in the Premier League and is a big player for Arsenal.

The Scotland international can also play as a centre-back and even as a right-back.

The left-back joined Arsenal from Celtic in 2019 for £25 million (Sky Sports).

The 24-year-old had injury problems in his first season, but in 2020-21, he was one of the best players for the Gunners.

There have been murmurs that Tierney is good enough for Manchester City.

Many will say that Tierney is good enough for any top club in Europe.

However, Arsenal are a big club as well, and it is very unlikely that they will sell the Scotsman this summer.

Of course, if the Gunners have yet another disappointing season and Tierney stands out, then things could change.

As for now, Arsenal fans need not worry about losing Tierney this summer.
