Scott Brown states Celtic’s pace ‘all over the park’ scares opposition teams

Scott Brown got on the scoresheet as Celtic comfortably beat St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

Scott Brown has claimed that Celtic have ‘pace all over the park’ which ‘scares people’ following their thumping 5-0 win over St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Winger Scott Sinclair, who netted a hat-trick during the game, started the encounter, alongside speedster Olivier Burke, the quick-footed James Forrest and the raw pace of Timothy Weah coming off the bench.

Midfielder Brown got on the scoresheet himself after nine minutes following his stunning effort, with the home team scoring two goals inside the first 10 minutes.

Nonetheless, after the match, Brown waxed-lyrical about what Celtic have that other teams fear as he gave a special mention to three players.

“We have pace all over the park and it scares people more than anything,” said Brown, as posted by the club’s official Twitter account. “James [Forrest], Timo [Weah] and Ollie [Burke] have the pace which can really trouble opponents.”

There is no doubt that Celtic possess real firepower, trickery and pace in the final third, not just from this season, but in previous campaigns too.

Last month, they only added more pace to their ranks when striker Weah made a loan move from Paris Saint-Germain, while defender Jeremey Toljan, who also has pace to burn, made a move from Germany.

Nonetheless, the Bhoys progress through to the next round of the Scottish Cup as they look to continue their dominance under Rodgers’ stewardship.

Skipper Brown has played a big part in that, over the course of this season, he has played 35 games in all competitions, providing grit, determination and defensive stability from the middle of the park.
