Celtic’s Scott Brown says he’s in negotiations to extend his stay as a player at Parkhead.
Scott Brown has told The Daily Mail that contract talks between himself and Celtic are going well so far.
The 33-year-old midfielder, a £4.4 million signing from Hibernian in 2007 [Guardian], is out of contract at Parkhead next summer.
Brown has captained Celtic to back-to-back trebles in recent years and also won the majority of end-of-season individual awards last term.
Despite his advancing years, the former Scotland midfielder remains a vital player for the Hoops, and Brown himself reveals that he is looking to prolong his time in Glasgow.
He told The Mail, of contract talks: “Myself, the gaffer and Peter (Lawwell) have been chatting and it seems to have gone well.”
Celtic fans would love another few seasons out of Brown and, although it’s a long way away yet, they would also love to see him skipper the team to the elusive 10-in-a-row.
The Bhoys have seven at the moment, with Brendan Rodgers overseeing the previous two.
Getting to eight will be the focus at the moment, with Rodgers’s side three points and two places behind top-of-the-table Hearts, but having Brown around for a potential three more would be something quite magical from a Celtic perspective.
