Celtic took another step towards securing the Scottish Premiership title ahead of next weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-final.

Scott Brown has taken to social media in the wake of Celtic’s hard-fought victory over Hamilton Academical on Sunday that takes the Hoops to the brink of yet another Scottish Premiership title, and the captain was full of praise for Leigh Griffiths.
Brendan Rodgers’ men knew that they could move 13 points clear with just five games remaining if they were able to beat Accies. And it appeared that they may be about to get off to the perfect start and score inside the opening seconds of the game when Moussa Dembele capitalised on some sloppy defending. Unfortunately, he was only able to put his effort straight at the keeper.

Hamilton may have kept Celtic at bay on that occasion, but the deadlock was broken soon after with Callum McGregor scoring inside three minutes for the visitors. The home side would equalise after 18 minutes, but that only set the stage for Griffiths as he was introduced at the break.
The striker needed less than a minute to score his first goal since January as he got onto the end of a Scott Sinclair cross to find the back of the net from close range to ensure that the points were Celtic’s and the title is almost back at Parkhead.

It was not a memorable performance from the Hoops, but one that highlighted their title-winning credentials as they managed to bag the victory when they were some way short of their best.
And after the game, Brown took to Twitter to comment on the win and express his delight for Griffiths, who undoubtedly staked a claim to perhaps start at Hampden Park next weekend.
Here is what Brown said after the contest…
