Celtic could reportedly have Tom Rogic back available for the Old Firm game this weekend.

Scott Brown has told Celtic TV that it is a huge boost for the Hoops to have Tom Rogic back in contention to play this weekend, insisting that the Australian has the technical ability of a genius.

Neil Lennon has received a massive lift ahead of the Old Firm game on Sunday. The Scottish Sun reports that Rogic and Olivier Ntcham are both back in contention to play some part against Steven Gerrard’s side – though they are unlikely to start.

Rogic has not played for Celtic since Boxing Day. And Brown suggested that it is fantastic for the champions that he could be available for selection at Parkhead.

“To have Tom, everyone knows how good he is. Technically, he is a genius,” he told Celtic TV.

“That left-foot of his, he’s won us so many games before and there’s not a lot of players that I’ve played with whose movement is as good as what his is.”

Rogic is arguably one of the players that some of the Rangers squad will be hoping has an off-day if he does play a part. He always seems to be able to produce a moment of magic against the Gers, having scored in four of the five fixtures that the two sides played out last season.

On the other hand, it would also be a real statement from Celtic if they were able to get the win – and essentially end any hope of a title race in the final weeks of the season – without needing to use Rogic.

Given how long it has been since he last played for the Bhoys, Lennon may be slightly reluctant to use him if he has any concern about his fitness and sharpness. Of course, Celtic will want to avenge the defeat they suffered in December and put one hand on the league title once again.

But with Rogic’s injury history, Lennon would be forgiven for being cautious over his return. But there is no doubt that he is a fantastic option for the manager to have up his sleeve.
