The Celtic captain had some kind words for the Frenchman.
Edouard has been one of the club’s best and most important players since Neil Lennon arrived for his second spell as manager. It was his goals that fired the team to a third successive treble of trophies.
Having the responsibility of being the club’s only fit striker in recent months, the Frenchman is now being supported by the returning Leigh Griffiths.
Brown believes that having both available could be bad news for Celtic’s opposition.
As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the midfielder said: “Odsonne is still only 21, but he’s been brilliant for us, and he’s also good in the dressing room.
“On the pitch he works at closing people down, his hold-up play is important and he’s a natural finisher.
“With Leigh available again and Ryan Christie making those runs in behind and creating space for others, that’s also helped Odsonne. It’s great to have him and Leigh up front as they are deadly.”
There certainly seems to be room for both of them under Neil Lennon, with the duo netting two goals apiece in the early summer matches. Also starting together in a 5-0 win over Nomme Kalju, the new Celtic boss appears more willing to allow a partnership to form than Brendan Rodgers was.
Edouard scored 23 goals for his side last season and the target for him this term will be finding a little bit more consistency to push that total up even further.
Apparently settled and embedded well into the core group at Celtic too, this could be a massive season for him as he matures into a more accomplished player, especially if he is more adequately supported in attack than he has been.
