The defender has opted to reunite with Brendan Rodgers at the Scottish champions.
Celtic captain Scott Brown has hailed the imminent signing of Kolo Toure in an interview with the Daily Mail.
The defender has opted to reunite with former manager Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park following his release by Liverpool at the end of last season.
He is being brought in to add some much needed quality to the Hoops’ defence, which has once again come in for stern criticism at the beginning of this season.
The signing has been largely welcomed despite his advancing years, and Brown is one of those who is looking forward to seeing him, saying Toure is a great player.
“He is 35 but he is still rapid and built like a brick outhouse, shall we say,” he told the Daily Mail.
“He is a great player who has been around. He has been at top clubs and was part of the Invincibles at Arsenal. He is a leader on and off the field so he will bring great experience for us.”
It now remains to be seen whether Toure will be the only defensive addition to arrive at the club this summer.
The defence has come in for serious criticism in recent years, with many believing that it is far from at the level that is required if Celtic are to compete both domestically and abroad.
Rodgers is likely to be acutely aware of it also, and it will be interesting to see if he believes adding Toure is enough to solve their issues in the position.
