Celtic's Scott Brown celebrates scoring their fifth goal

Celtic captain Scott Brown, speaking to Celtic TV, has revealed what he thinks of the start the club’s summer signings have made.

As Brendan Rodgers took over at the helm of Parkhead, replacing Ronny Deila, he set out looking to strengthen his squad in his first transfer window as boss.

The club proved busy, improving with a goalkeeper, two defenders and two forwards following him in moving to Glasgow.

Dorus de Vries - Nottingham Forest

Dorus de Vries joined from Swansea City, linking up with his former manager; Cristian Gamboa, the only one out of the five yet to play, swapped the Hawthorns for Parkhead; and Moussa Dembele moved on a free from Fulham.

Scott Sinclair, another linking up once again with Rodgers, arguably represents the best of the lot, while Kolo Toure was another marquee capture.

It has been impressive work from the club to welcome such a fine array of talent, and Brown has been impressed with what he has seen from the new boys so far.

“They’ve been great,” Brown told Celtic TV. “They’ve come in and livened the dressing room up a little bit as well. We lost Charlie [Mulgrew] and that was big miss in the dressing room, but they’re slowly coming out their shells, shall we say.

“Scott [Sinclair] has been an exceptional signing. He’s scoring goals and creating chances. He’s got pace, and been a great player.

“Kolo is Kolo. Big, brave, great guy in the dressing room. He’s very honest and I think that’s what everyone loves about him.

“Moussa’s [Dembele] come on and scored some vital goals for us. So that will be good for him to get some game time as well.”

Celtic are three matches into their Premiership campaign, and lead the way with a game in hand.

De Vries got his first taste of action at his new club before the international break, replacing Craig Gordon between the sticks in a convincing 4-1 win over Aberdeen.

Dembele has yet to kickstart his career at Parkhead, though you only have to re-watch his majestic solo run and the superb penalty in the last minute of the Scottish champions’ Champions League tie against Astana for a reminder of what he is capable of.

Sinclair has yet to look back after his debut winner at Hearts on the first day of the season, and Toure has already made a huge difference, bringing calmness and experience to a defence that has lacked both for many years.

Brown will be hoping his new teammates continue their impressive start as the Old Firm returns to the big time and Celtic’s European adventure gets underway.
