Scott Brown believes that the presence of Brendan Rodgers at Celtic has made life easier for the Scottish Premiership side in the transfer market.
Scott Brown has suggested to the Evening Times that it is Brendan Rodgers’ presence at Celtic that is allowing the Hoops to compete for a much higher calibre of player on the transfer market.
Since the Northern Irishman arrived at Parkhead, the Bhoys have signed the likes of Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair, while they have also been linked by the Daily Mirror with a permanent move for Patrick Roberts, the Daily Record suggested that Dominic Solanke was on their radar and the Evening Times reported that Chelsea’s Charly Musonda has been linked.

While moves for Roberts and Solanke failed to come to fruition – though the former’s future appears undecided still – the fact that they appear to have been linked as genuine contenders for their signatures arguably highlights how attractive a prospect joining the club currently is.
And Brown has credited Rodgers for being a key reason for their ability to target more exciting players.
“As soon as people start talking about people leaving clubs in the [English] Premier League his name (Rodgers) gets mentioned,” he told the Evening Times. “I don’t think two or three years ago we’d have been able to touch anybody like that.”
“But due to his name, and what he’s done in the game, he’s got a chance of bringing top quality players to the club and that’s what he wants to do. He wants to maintain the level that we set last year but also push us on.”
Celtic fans will be hoping that Rodgers’ tenure leads to some sort of legacy at Parkhead that will enable them to continue fighting for these exciting talents who will be attracting plenty of attention from English clubs.

In previous years, they would have surely expected to have already sold a striker at this stage of the summer if he had scored 32 times in a season, but they have so far managed to keep Dembele, as well as the rest of their first-team squad.
And if they can continue to add quality, then staying at Celtic will surely become as attractive an opportunity as joining almost any English team.
