Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic signed Odsonne Edouard permanently from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is seen during the first leg UEFA Champions League Qualifier between Celtic and Rosenborg at Celtic Park Stadium on July 25, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has revealed to The Scottish Sun how manager Brendan Rodgers plans to use Odsonne Edouard this season.

Brown – who has been on the books of Celtic since the summer of 2007 when he joined from Hibernian for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £4.4 million – has stated that manager Rodgers plans to use Edouard more down the middle this season.

The 20-year-old was often used more out on the left last season, but the forward will be deployed down the middle during the 2018-19 campaign.

Brown told The Scottish Sun: “Edouard has really hit the ground running. Since he came back he’s looked in great nick and sharper than he did last year.

“He will be maturing as well, and he will be learning under the gaffer about what formation to play.

“Last season Edouard was more out left, and I think he will be more in the middle this season. He’s been really good so far, and I am sure there is a lot more to come from him.”

Exciting for Celtic fans

Edouard did well for Celtic last season when on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in 22 Scottish Premiership appearances, according to tTansfermarkt.co.uk.

With the Hoops having signed the Frenchman on a permanent contract this summer for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £9 million, Rodgers plans to play him more centrally this season.

This means more excitement for the Celtic fans, as they could see Edouard and Moussa Dembele play together more regularly.

Dembele is arguably the most talented striker at Celtic at the moment, and it will be frightening for opposition teams in Scotland to face him and his French compatriot Edouard together.
