Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain is set to start the Betfred Cup final.

Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he has been speaking to boss Brendan Rodgers about his situation – and thanked him for keeping his word about playing in the cup.
Bain, 27, was landed by Celtic in January when Craig Gordon went down with injury, and did enough in a loan move from Dundee to earn a permanent switch over the summer.
Gordon started this season as first choice once again, but Bain started the 0-0 draw at Livingston before the international break, making his first league start of the season.
Bain is mostly used as Celtic’s cup goalkeeper, and he started the Betfred Cup semi-final against Hearts, keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 victory for Bhoys.
This Sunday, Celtic face Aberdeen in the Betfred Cup final, and Rodgers has already revealed that Bain will be starting in goal ahead of Gordon having promised him playing time.
Without that promise, it’s feasible that Bain could have joined a different club over the summer, and he has now spoken about his situation at Parkhead ahead of Sunday’s game.

Bain has revealed that he has been having chats with Rodgers about the situation, praising his faith in him to play in cup games whilst thanking him for keeping to his word, and feels that he has played well of late.
“I’ve had brief chats with the manager about the situation,” said Bain. “It’s good that he’s shown faith in me to play in the cup games until now so to go another step and play in the final is great. It’s a real boost for me that he’s got that belief in me.”
“We had a brief conversation last season about me playing in the cups and the manager has always been a man of his word. Because of that I thought I would play and feel I’ve played well in the games I have played – so I think he’s been happy with me,” he added.
