It already seems a lifetime ago that Scott Allan was completing a pre-contract move to Hibernian in January with his Celtic deal set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

Allan has become a forgotten man at Parkhead with the 27-year-old yet to make a single appearance for the Hoops since Brendan Rodgers arrived in 2016.

It seemed therefore, to make a lot of sense for all parties when it was announced last month that Hibs had agreed a three-year deal with Allan for when he leaves Celtic in the summer (via BBC Sport).

But following a very dramatic 24 hours for the champions, it now appears that Allan is going to be a somewhat bizarre situation with BBC Sport reporting that Brendan Rodgers is likely to be replaced by Neil Lennon with the former closing in on taking the Leicester City job.

Manager of Hibs Neil Lennon looks on during the Betfred Cup Semi-Final at Hampden Park on October 21, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The expected appointment means that Allan is about to get the chance to link up with the manager that he agreed to join in the summer – and of course, that then means that he will leave the club managed by the man that he signed for if Lennon stays on beyond the end of the season.

Lennon’s arrival may not change much for the midfielder regarding the rest of this campaign. But if any manager is going to be willing to offer Allan the chance to make an impact for Celtic, it will surely be the Northern Irishman.

It still seems unlikely. But perhaps the opportunity that Allan has been waiting for at Celtic may come just as he is about to head through the exit door – and it may be thanks to the manager that he hoped would help turn his career around from next season.
