Berra has been linked with a move to Ibrox this summer, with Rangers set to prioritise the signing of a new centre-back.
Scotland manager Gordon Strachan
Scotland’s friendly against Canada on Wednesday is likely to see a number of Gordon Strachan’s fringe players given rare run-outs.
And with only four centre-backs named in Strachan’s 30-man party, Ipswich Town’s Christophe Berra is one who’ll perhaps have high hopes of featuring at Easter Road – especially with Russell Martin in contention for a spot on the right.
Should Berra win his 35th cap against the Canucks, his performance will be of particular interest to fans of Glasgow Rangers, after their side were linked with a summer move for the 32-year-old (Edinburgh Evening Times).
Berra is out of contract at Portman Road this summer and his manager Mick McCarthy has already admitted he won’t stand in the player’s way should he wish to return to Scotland (Sudbury Mercury), as he has previously intimated.
Rangers are expected to have at least one centre-back vacancy this summer, with the contracts of Clint Hill and Philippe Senderos due to expire.
And Wednesday’s game could be an indicator as to whether Berra is up to the task of replacing one, if not both, of them.

After Barrie McKay’s omission left Lee Wallace as the Tartan Army’s only Rangers representative, it wouldn’t hurt for Rangers to have another on Strachan’s radar.
Should Rangers sign Berra this summer?
