Jack Hendry has had a horrible season for Celtic so far, but has it just gotten worse?

Celtic defender Jack Hendry has been left out of Alex McLeish’s latest Scotland squad.

The 23-year-old was initially selected for the previous two international breaks in recent months, and started the 3-1 defeat by Portugal in October.

Given his poor form for Celtic this season, it was a major surprise to see him included by McLeish on those occasions, but it seems like the Scotland boss might have lost faith in the former Dundee star.

It’s bad news for the player, but is it also bad news for the Hoops?

Even before being omitted, Hendry had endured a belief-shattering season, with Celtic fans regularly slamming him after his performances.

Simply put, Hendry has had the confidence knocked out of him on a regular basis this season and you wonder whether McLeish’s decision to reject him will only exacerbate the problem.

Brendan Rodgers hasn’t been starting him a whole lot recently, so it isn’t an immediate problem, but it can and should worry the Celtic boss if he is forced to put him back into the mix again soon. He can’t be ready.

In truth, Hendry has looked a shadow of the player who the Bhoys spent £1.5 million on January, and this won’t help him at all.
