Scotland Under-21’s fell to their second defeat of the international break as they lost 2-0 at home to England Under-21’s at Tynecastle on Tuesday night.

After a 3-1 defeat to Ukraine on Friday night, which ruled Scotland out of contention for the Under-21 European Championships next summer, Scott Gemmill’s side played host to their English counterparts.

Scotland were outplayed by England, with the Three Lions having more than six times as many shots as Scotland, 67% of possession and even completing nearly twice as many passes.

Reiss Nelson’s outstanding free kick opened the scoring on the hour mark, before Everton’s Kieran Dowell struck in added time to seal a 2-0 win.

Gemmill will be disappointed to have lost twice in just a matter of days, but Celtic playmaker Lewis Morgan at least appears to have come out of the international break with some credit.

The midfielder scored against Ukraine and then turned in a promising display against England, sparking major praise on social media during and after the game.

Celtic fans have barely seen Morgan in the famous green and white hoops, but called for him to now be given a chance by Brendan Rodgers, suggesting that he is ‘unreal’ and ‘absolutely outstanding’.

Scotland fans also commented on Morgan, suggesting that it’s annoying to see him sat on the bench so regularly for Celtic, as he ‘looked the real deal’ for the Scotland Under-21’s, with supporters loving his display.
