Some Celtic fans on Twitter have rubbished Tony Watt’s post-match claim.
The Hoops thumped Motherwell 4-1 at Fir Park this afternoon to get back to winning ways after their abject defeat to Sparta Prague by the same scoreline in the Europa League on Thursday.
Declan Gallagher halved Celtic’s lead on 72 minutes to make a game of it, but Mohamed Elyounoussi completed his hat-trick swiftly after to restore the visitors’ two-goal cushion, before Olivier Ntcham finished them off late on.
Neil Lennon’s side boasted 64 percent possession and six shots on target in comparison to the hosts’ three.
And Watt, who spent three years at Parkhead as a younger player, claimed on Twitter after the game that it was a ‘harsh’ scoreline and one that flattered his former club.
But Celtic fans aren’t having any of it.
Celtic briefly went six points within Rangers at the summit by beating Watt and co, though the Ibrox outfit, who have played two games more now, restored their cushion later in the afternoon by thumping Hamilton 8-0.
